The hike provides spectacular panoramic views of the valley, the surrounding region, Rainbow Mountain, Mt Tarawera and Lake Rotomahana. Your trail showcases a wide spectrum of volcanic activity, native plants, and bird-life in one of the newest eco-systems in the world. When you’re in the heart of your natural surroundings, sit down for your picnic lunch and refresh yourself. You can then take one of the courtesy shuttle buses back up the valley to the entrance-way.

This experience is open 8:30am every day. Last admission is at 3.45pm (4.45pm in January). You are advised to arrive no later than 1pm if you want to cover all the trails. There are various walks available at this experience. Each have different time estimations. This hiking trail requires good fitness. The hike is not recommended for children. A shuttle bus will transport you back to the volcanic valley entrance and is also available to be used to transfer between points within the valley to reduce the walking distance. Lunch is provided with your experience. Open 8:30 everyday, last admission 15:45 (16:45 in January).
