The Experience

Bird spotters and nature lovers alike will absolutely adore this once in a lifetime trip. The Otago Peninsula headland is arguably the most precious wildlife habitat in New Zealand. Here, you'll find yellow eyed and little blue penguins - the rarest in the world - as well as New Zealand fur seals and the Stewart Island Shags. View these amazing birds and all this remarkable area has to offer aboard an 8-wheel drive all terrain Argo vehicle - giving you the very best views possible.

First stop is the mythical "Maori's Footprint" location with panoramic views over the Otago Peninsula. Descending from 189 metres above sea level, you will stop, during the nesting season, at a breeding colony of Cormorants (Spotted Shags) nestled on a rugged cliff face rising from the crashing Pacific Ocean waves below. Descending from 189 metres above sea level, you will stop, during the nesting season, at a breeding colony of Cormorants (Spotted Shags) nestled on a rugged cliff face rising from the crashing Pacific Ocean waves below. Next you will delight in a very close encounter with a breeding colony of New Zealand Fur Seals and their pups basking on the rocks and swimming in the pools in front of you. From here a beach-front ride takes you to a covered, all weather track leading down to a purpose-built hide on Penguin Beach to view little blue penguins in their nests (in season) and spot the rare Yellow-eyed Penguin in their nest or on the beach.

The return takes you to the highest point on the farm, 201 metres above sea level from where you have spectacular 360 degree views of this beautiful peninsula. This is a delightful informative and thrilling experience perfect for almost ages and on to be remembered for an age.
